A PoE switch can help solve this problem, as you simply need to run a single Ethernet cable between the switch and each camera, with the camera taking it’s power directly from the switch. The Mokerlink 4 port switch is perfect for a small camera setup, with it’s 4 x 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports (which are more than fast enough for a regular HD camera stream) and it’s 2 x 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Uplink ports. Having dedicated uplink ports, means you do not lose any available Ethernet ports when connecting to your existing network or directly to you Network Video Recorder. The switch has a nice sturdy metal construction with all 6 Ethernet ports on the front, along with the status indicator lights that let you quickly see that there is a connection and whether the connection is using PoE power. At the far right corner of the front panel is a switch to extend the transmission range of the connected devices from 100 meters to 250 meters, although this will limit the transmission speed down to 10 Mbps. The rear of the unit is where the mains adapter is plugged in and also features a grounding point, so that the unit can be grounded inside your cabinet (if that is where you are placing it). Either side of the switch are mounting points for the hanging brackets which can be screwed into place and the bracket can be mounted either vertically or horizontally.
