Review: 20GHz -Msi Nvidia GTX 970 (previous card > Sapphire R9 270 2gb) -Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz 2x4GB Dual Channel 8GB kit -1920 - My computer specs: -i5 4460 3.20GHz -Msi Nvidia GTX 970 (previous card > Sapphire R9 270 2gb) -Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz 2x4GB Dual Channel 8GB kit -1920x1080 LG monitor -500w Corsair Bronze -1TB WCD Hard drive -ASRock Z97 Anniversary Motherboard -Windows 7 Ultimate -Bit Fenix Mid-tower case I have to say I am very happy about this cards performance as I can play all my games on Steam now on ultra pretty much as most of the time I may just have to turn down ambient occlusion or antialiasing down a bit but other than that this card sticks to 60fps when vysnced and can over 100fps on some games when they are maxed. Installation: The night before I got the card I did a load of cable tying so the card had room and no wires would get in the way. When I got the card the next day I made a restore point on my pc, removed my old R9 270, then I put in the 27cm long heavy monster of a card in. It certainly weighted a lot more than my older card and it took a bit to slotted it in with about 5cms left of room, I screwed in the screws at the end then put the 8pin cable and the 6 pin cable into the card as it requires 2 different power cables. I turned on the power a VOLA the card was running and displaying fine, I installed the standard drivers and had a go with a few games. Gameplay/ Performance: Now I have had a week with the card running I can now say that you do not get the cards full power until you update its driver to the absolute newest driver as when I used NVidia's experience to get the right settings to play Borderlands 2 it set everything to max and when I play It dipped to 45 fps in big major battles and I was baffled. So I updated my driver via NVidia's experience software and then tried the game again and it played silky smooth but I did put the view distance down from extra far to just far. I am mostly play Killing Floor 2 now and on high settings due to ultra being a big hog and causes frame stutter even if I did get a constant 60fps. I have also being playing Metal Gear The Phantom on Ultra with only the effects setting put to high instead of extra high as for some reason when I use a fulton on cargo containers and vehicles and are lifted up smoke comes up and my frames dip about 5fps for a second then is fine, feels like a stutter really. Sound/noise: Now I hear ALOT of people complaining about coil whine on high end cards and I can easily say my card has never whined... it has got slightly loud after being used for 6 hours straight gaming and that is understandable. I do love that the fans are off when I am not gaming or as it is called idle mode, so the cards fans only turn on when it is required to render demanding games. So if I played terraria it would not need to use the fans but if I played Fallout 3 or Killing Floor 2 the fans would start. Key points -Powerful card for ultra 1080p gaming and light 4k gaming -Quiet when idle -Hums nicely when rendering game, not noisy -Looks badass, -Driver support is brilliant -Awesome power for the price ratio -I won't need to upgrade for about 2-3 years Absolutely brilliant card FWI you get the free game code via email from desertcart as a promotional code where you are then sent to the GeForce site to pick the new assassins creed game or rainbow six siege. I pick assassins creed as I don't like competitive co-op/multiplayer such as rainbow six.
Review: 3rd Times the charm (hopefully I wont have to change my review again) - 3rd Review- This is just a review of this card, I returned it and got a new one after the last one I had had unbearable coil whine (read my second review below) and the card is fine, great performance, overclocks nicely and stays cool and quiet, great card, especially since I picked mine up for only £250. 2nd Review- Firstly let me start of by saying that I have only had this card for a week and for that week this card has been absolutely amazing, but a week has passed and now I hate the card. Just this morning I loaded up a game (dying light) and all of a sudden I heard coil whine, it was louder than any whine I had heard before and it is now present in every single game I play, it completely ruins my gaming experience and I game with headphones with noise cancellation and it is still horrible. As such I have changed my review from I love it, to I hate it and I will be returning it immediately. Now this could just be a defect with this one card but I would be careful. Also below is my original review. 1st Review- I bought this card as an upgrade from my r9 270, and so far it is vastly superior, it looks nicer, the performance is double and the power use and temps are also lower (with the fans running at 40% it's completely silent and only ever gets up to 46 degrees under full load) I currently use this for gaming and so far I can max all games with 60fps (farcry 4, gta 5, dyinglight ext) the only negatives I can think of is that it doesn't come with a backplate which makes it look less professional and my card seems to be sagging a little. Also most reviews and images seem to miss out the fact that the msi logo on the side lights up, sadly it is only white but it still looks really nice. Overall this is brilliant card, not sure if it's worth the price (at the time of writing this it was £299) but I managed to get it for 250.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Cool & Quiet
*by N***N on 15 July 2015*

Although the unit I purchased turned out defective, I was still able to observe how good this card is during the short time I had used it. Gaming Performance: This card is aimed at 1080p use, and it performs very well. It's 40-50% slower than the GTX 970, but it's half the price and would serve those wishing to play most newly released games on high setting. The limited bandwidth (the amount of data that can flow at any given time) means that this card may not stay the entirety of its intended life cycle. The 2GB VRAM argument also something to consider, however this card will run out of graphical grunt before it saturates above 2GB VRAM in most cases. These are things that must be considered as the GTX 970 may be a better buy with regards to longevity. Noise: This card is extremely silent. At full load, the fans spin at 800rpm, which is virtually silent. Compared with my old R9 270, which ran at 2,200rpm, this feels like a much welcome addition. When idling, the card emits no noise and the fans do not spin. For those seeking absolute silence, look no further than this card. Heat: Heat is a massive issue with graphics cards. My R9 290 used to reach 82c when at full load in my mini itx system. I'm happy to report this card in the same case reached only 63c while providing more graphical horsepower and making less noise. Drawbacks: -Limited bandwidth may hinder future games -2GB Ram may be an issue (although unlikely) - Card is very long -Coil whine may be present Conclusion: This card performs well for the price, but is exceptional in how little noise and heat it emits. If you're looking for the coolest and quiestest card available, look no further than the MSI GTX 960. This is a solid mid-range card and performs better in games than my AMD R9 270. This is not just down to more graphical power, but because of the excellent driver support from Nvidia.
