**Q: is it a problem keeping the dust out of the mechanism**
A: The metal plate on the top of the clock offers some protection. Yet the clock should preferably be kept in a dust free room.

A: Hello,please start the pendulum by a strong push. The pendulums end must swing 40cm. The clock contains an automatic beat adjustment. This feature will adjust the tick-tack sound by so doing.

A: Metal is black wrought iron..? Dont know.  ,but we are very satisfied lovely clock ,and keeps very good time .

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent engineering.

Perfect! (But please see further information in the comments section) Lovely and discreet tick-tock, as is the gentle 'ping' of the hourly chime. I've had it for a month and having adjusted it via the knurled nut on the end of the pendulum, it's now accurate to about a minute a week, which is more than can be said for some quartz watches. At risk of sounding a bit Asperger's, I can sit gazing at the thing for hours, admiring the skeleton movement and function; really nice engineering; the pendulum's oscillation is just under one per second: very relaxing and, like the chime, IMO is not in the least intrusive. My wife says I should get out more, although she is to blame for it's presence in the house, what with its existence being due to my thinly-veiled hint just before my birthday and my receiving it as a present. Highly recommended. PS: I've wanted one of these for at least ten years, having seen it in a friend's house, at which time it was £110. PPS: Never fear of damage in transit; the packaging was robust and the clock arrived intact! And one last thing: take care to hang the clock exactly perpendicular so the pendulum swings equi-distant each swing. PS: One year later, please see the comments section! PPS: The old one's hanging on the wall, still beautiful but not ticking! So I've just ordered another. Too good to be without! Just in time for Christmas too :)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A lovely clock but questionable build quality and has never kept time since owning it

The clock appears to be beautifully made, but closer inspection shows that the face of the clock is loose and wobbles. Also the pendulum was slightly scuffed upon unboxing.Also the clock has never kept time ever in the year I’ve owned it.It runs slow, a couple of days go by and it will lose sometimes up to 10 mins.I keep adjusting the pendulum up every time but it doesn’t seem to ever make a difference, the clock keeps running very inaccurately.So it’s more of a nice ornament than an actual clock that you can use. The chime is very nice but it’s a disappointment hearing it going off when my watch shows 8 minutes past the hour….

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Old idea still excellent

I am delighted with this clock. It keeps superb time, adds movement to a room that otherwise sits with nothing happening - and gives such a reassuring tick-tock. The fact that it comes from Germany pleases me because they have such great engineers and care so much about precision. I may not have mounted it quite high enough on the wall - so it may not have room for the weight to keep descending for the full 7 or 8 days for which it is capable. However it's set to be attractive and to balance visually with pictures, mirror etc and if it only goes for 6 days I'm happy. It tells you visually when it's near the end of its downwards journey. What I like is the simplicity of this clock - one of the earliest designs which requires nothing digital, my personal energy, no batteries, no wifi....... and works just as well. It is attractive and traditional.
