Due to shipment and probably sitting in warehouse a while, it is hard to find some that are not "old", so not hard. But those were not old, not hard. A+ I just wished they were cheaper. Those same bags in France are about 3$

Way better than Jelly Beans and without all the nasty artificial food colorings. I ate tons of these when I was a kid in France. Today my little nieces and nephews say it's their favorite candy (they pronounce it "Draggybutt" LOL!). Glad I no longer have to fly to France to buy them!
