There is a lot of chain length for adjustment. We have a standard door frame and there was plenty of chain left. **Q: What age is this recommended for?** A: From when babies can hold their heads up on their own until age one or so. It is a great way to release energy for them when they cant crawl or walk **Q: If we already have a hook in a ceiling beam is there anyway this can attach to that, or does it have to be a doorway?** A: If you had a chain that you could hang from the hook then you could do it, as the bottom part of the bouncer hooks onto the chain. The chain that comes with the bouncer does not appear to be removable from the the doorway grips.
