First you need to make sure than any other finishes are removed either through sanding or through the use of the green scotchguard pads. This product is extremely thin and a little bit goes a long way. I used a sponge and there was little waste and any over runs were quickly absorbed. It’s not a shiny finish more so, a nice natural teak glow that not only repels water but it looks as good today as it did when it was first applied.
