A: They can be replaced.  The ones we carry from Gund has a compartment where you can unscrew and swap out batteries.

A: Not a separate switch, but you press the paw to turn it on and you can press the paw at any time to turn it off - so you basically can turn it on and off at any time.  Love the bear!!!
