A: I can't say that you *need* to, but I did.  I also wash brand new clothes before I wear them.  It's just me.

**Q: How tall is this with the lid on? Will a cupcake fit in it?**
A: No, a cupcake will not fit in this with the lid on

**Q: When i use them in the freezer. Ice gets inside the container**
A: You would need something to suck the air out prior to freezing and these are not made for that.

They are perfect in size, seal well and stack even better in the fridge :) They can be microwaved, too. I haven't tried them in the dishwasher, but have washed by hand. I have ordered similar containers from other sellers. These were flimsy and hard to get apart. Some were cracked. Spend a little more money and get a better product.
