Review: Far from crud... - I bought these for my hard tail 29er to face up to some quite mucky conditions. I have to say that I am very pleased with the result. They do exactly what I require of them. Contrary to some opinions on here, I found them quite simple to fit. On the rear guard, insert the T connector on the bracket in first, twist 90 degrees and then the second connector just clips in. On the front guard, locate the plastic hooks on the underside, hook one end of the band in, poke the rest through the hole above the hook, do the same with the second hook and hole, place the guard on the frame, poke the other end of the bands through the corresponding holes on the other side of the guard, and use the hooks on the underside to secure the bands just like on the other side. You do need to be careful about any wiring that travels down the underside of the frame with the front guard: It will pin the cables against the frame and if your bike has bare wires like many do, it will restrict their movement with predictable implications to your rear brakes and gears. With a sheathed cable, or a hydraulic line, it is less of an issue: my bike has a hydraulic line going to the rear brake running under the frame, and I just fitted the front guard over the line with no issues. Overall, great product. You don't need a degree in engineering to fit them, and most important, they stop mud from getting on you when you ride your bike. Just check the cables on your bike first for any moving cables on the underside of the frame before you buy. If you have any, you will have problems with the front guard.
Review: Absolutely brilliant but poor instructions can add frustration - These are much bigger than I was expecting and the right size for purpose. The picture on desertcart make them look too small but they are not. There are some instructions on the 'tent' part of the packaging but these are insufficient and quite poor in my opinion. They fail to show which part fits where, and this is particularly confusing for the front mud guard. Worse still, the loose parts themselves don't give much clue as to what to do with them, where they go or how to fit. You are provided with two elasticated bands and 3 wedges of different thicknesses. The rear mudguard and holder is somewhat intuitive once you've worked out it fits on the seat stem and got it the right way around. The wedges become more obvious after fitting without them. They require a bit of crafting to fit but do the job. That is relatively simple, although 90% to do with working out on ones own and only 10% for the instructions. The front part completely baffled me not least because I have no experience of fitting mudguards to mountain bikes. I was envisaging this fitting in front of the handlebars and over the front wheel. This is NOT the case. It actually fits on the underbelly of the frame, on the cross diagonal structure going from the pedals to the handle bar. THis does make sense as crud will likely end up on a trajectory from the upward part of the front wheel. The two bands appear to go around the frame and through holes in the mudguard and attach to hooks on the underside. I had to extend one end of the band to an additional hook to give some tension as the frame on my bike isn't as thick as on others. This was a little fiddly but ok. I had to do some research to find all of this out. There is no picture on the instructions where the front guard is meant to attach exactly, or how to use the bands. This is quite poor in my opinion as it is not intuitive at all. There is a further potential issue and that is that the brake and/or gear cables are often attached to the underbelly of the frame where this mudguard is meant to fit. A spacer might have to be used between this guard and the cables and frame in such cases to stop the pressure of the mudguard attachment impeding the cables. I don't know this for sure but any pressure on the cable or it's sheath will stop it functioning properly. It could be rerouted above the frame I suppose. Overall I believe these are the absolute dog's knackers and transform a pretty crappy and battered looking mountain bike into a pretty crappy battered bike with some decent mud guards. I am very pleased with them and although the weather (of course) has improved now such that I cannot test them, I am confident that they will do the trick. They are quite wide and so imagine they really will catch any water. I am not likely to go off-road so will not fully put these to the test, but they look like they are designed to prevent crud ending up in your face or up your back, so worthy of their name. I have already bought an additional set for a bike I have not yet purchased. Highly recommended.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good product
*by A***R on 10 October 2015*

I bought this for my 11 year old son's mountain bike (26" wheels) and both mudguards fit well. The rear mudguard attaches securely to the seat post and there is very little give once fixed in place, particularly in the vertical. There might not be room for other items, such as a reflector, on the seat post if the seat is low. The front mudguard attaches to the underside of the frame. This could be a problem if gear or brakes cables run along the same route, although in our case the gear cables run along the top of the mudguard without being impeded. A couple of o-rings are supplied to fix the mudguard to the frame although in our case the bike already had a couple of holes and screws that aligned exactly with holes in the mudguard and allowed secure attachment in that way. The instructions are pretty minimal but it is clear how to attach both mudguards so this is not a problem. Overall I'm pleased with the product
