The distinctive Atollo Table Lamp was created by Vico Magistretti for the Italian manufacturer Oluce.Founded in 1945, Oluce is Italy's oldest active lamps and lighting design company. The brand has a long history of innovative and contemporary design, and it has collaborated with an impressive roster of creative and skilled visionaries over the years. In 1977, the label commissioned Magistretti to produce the stunning Atollo Table Lamp. Magistretti was an acclaimed Italian designer and architect who played a leading role in the Modernist movement in Milan. His Atollo lamp has won numerous awards, including the Compasso d'Oro in 1979, and it has been part of many museum collections around the world.This elegant lamp has become a design classic, instantly recognizable for its characteristic, geometric 'mushroom' shape, consisting of an inverted semi-sphere on top of an illuminated, cylindrical base. Several variants of the light are available in different sizes, with the larger size including a dimmer switch. The shade of this beautiful table lamp comes made from either opal glass or polished metal. The curved shade appears to float above the base without support and provides a soft yet powerful ambient light that will brighten any desk or table.
