Be that as it may, this is a great starter chef knife. I have not had it long enough to say something meaningful about edge retention, but certainly it is nice and sharp, and I have not had to touch it up, though I always run a new knife over a strop first. This particular knife is made from 4116 Krupp Stainless Steel, and that is decent enough for a kitchen knife. Relatively easy to maintain, with reasonable edge retention. The knife is nice and thin at the spine. Good for fine work with veggies. First of all, the box is really nice. It’s totally giftable to anyone who needs a knife because the box is all pretty in the inside. When I first used it, I can’t help but notice how comfortable it feels in my hand and how easily it cuts through everything I tried. I cut up watermelons, cantaloupes, and pineapples with this baby and it was like slicing butter. The knife itself also looks very aesthetically pleasing, so you’re gonna want to clean it up as soon as you’re done using it.
