The only issue with it IMO, are the cutting plates are made from mild steel. TBH, I would have paid a bit more for these to be made from stainless. When washed they need to be dried quickly or they start to rust. I've stored mine in a plastic sealable tub, submerged in vegetable oil. Most wear between the blade and the knife occurs on start up and when the product starts coming through the plate wear is minimal. I suggest you lightly oil the plate after use and discard the first few ounces of product on start up. IF the blade become worn it's not economic to sharpen it and a new one cost under a fiver. The PLATE can also wear and become thin over time when that happens the front cover cannotn assert enough pressure to ensure a good cut. When assembled the plate should stand slightly proud of the mincerbody by at least a millimetre. By the way take NO NOTICE of the so-called filler attatchments and get a small stand alone filler. For home use a 3 kilo filler should suffice and it's well worth the investment because it will last forever if looked after. I use an ELECTRIC no12 mincer and a filler and both were made in the'30's . I had the mincer checked out around three years ago and except for one new medium plate, a new knife and a new flex nought was wrong with it. Just used this morning it to 'scrat' apples for cider making. This mincer will comfortable get through 50 kilo an hour pork shoulder. I like to educate! **Q: Went to buy one and out of stock. Will they be coming back in ?** A: Yes **Q: Can one buy replacement blades?** A: Depends on the size of the plate. Measure the DIAMETER of the plate. If it's 70mm which most home mincers are then the cutter knife will be a NUMBER 12. They cost around a fiver each. Just enter Mincer cutter plates in you search engine you will find different makers have different shaped knive. I've use 'em all and if there is a difference I haven't found it yet. Amazon sells em by the way. When I answer this type of question I always put in this comment. If you are making sausages GET YOUSELF a stand alone filler A 3kilo one should suffice for home use and they last a lifetime if looked after. The machine minces well and the motor doesn’t strain unduly when chunks of meat are sent through . As far as the sausage making attachments are concerned as well as the process of making sausages : I found that once you get the hang of feeding the mince through and controlling the casing at the same time then it is a relatively hassle free process. Clean up is easy enough to do by hand. Possibly only thing I don’t like is the hopper .
