Review: What's not to like? This thing is light, sturdy and cheap. - This thing is the bomb. It is lightweight, sturdy and just works really well. It transfers the heat into the water very efficiently. It is not non-stick, but pretty easy to clean. It doesn't seem to scratch easily in my experience and it will heat a decent amount of water at once. You can use it for more than water or coffee - you can cook in it too. It can easily be your single pot for everything. You can fit one of the smaller, mixed gas cylinders inside it. You can get one with a complete mess kit that fits inside, but this is the one that is just the kettle with nothing else. You do want to be careful with the handles. Cook with the handles straight up so they can't come in contact with flame/intense heat of a stove. On the highest setting with some stoves, the flames will lick up around the edges, but that is true of almost any lightweight, backpacking cookware. I also wouldn't ever use it with a campfire - the little spout is always open to ash etc. and the heat-resistant handles would melt. But it works great with a Pocket Rocket stove. It works so well you have to watch it carefully. That stove and this pot boil water really, really fast, even in colder weather. I think it is because the wider surface area at the bottom more effectively catches all the stove's heat than a narrower pot.
Review: Great kettle - This is a great kettle. It's super light, very large and it pours really well given the small spout. I can't speak to cleaning it as I'm only boiling water in it and I just give it a quick rinse after a trip. If there are any food particles on the outside I'd hand wash it but that hasn't really been a necessity. I can fit some items inside for transport and it seems to do well boiling water. I will say that the top of the pot dented the first time I took it out. I had put the pot in my pack with the rest of my gear and cinched the top down tight. That was enough to bend the lid. That's a little concerning given that anything I'm taking camping has to go in my pack, but it's still very functional. I mostly smashed out the dent with my thumb, and now I know to pack in such a way that nothing is on the lid or nothing is applying pressure to the pot. After that I surrounded it with mountain house meals, after that I had eaten enough food that there was room enough in my pack for it to not be smashed. So know that a certain amount of durability is traded for it being lightweight, but I think it's a negligible compromise and have no problems recommending this teapot.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this be used at home on a Gas stovetop?**
A: Yes it can but you may want to bend a slight "lip" into one edge of the lid to keep the lid from falling off when you pour the last of the water out.... Just make sure the lip is on the up side when pouring.

**Q: Can this be used over an open fire ?**
A: Yes--but do so over good coals or keep the fire down appropriately (read no crazy bonfires)--and keep the bottom of the kettle on something like three large rocks or tent pegs or something. This will prolong the life of the kettle seriously by reducing your chances of overheating the metal and damaging it. You can remove the orange stuff, but if you do the noted precautions and stand the handles up (both on pot and lid), you will be fine leaving it on. It's all about how good you are at watching the heat output of your fire and the size of the flames. Do that smart and this kettle will work just fine. Suck at it and I recommend you go for a Zebra stainless kettle. Really bite at it and I recommend cast iron. All depends on your skill with fire.

**Q: Can this be used at home on a gas stovetop?**
A: I think so, that wouldn't be much different than using a camp stove.

**Q: Can you use this on wood stove for humidity?**
A: If the wood stove is hot enough, it’ll boil the water in this (or any other) vessel. I can’t say whether this would be the most efficient form factor to put water into your home, though.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing Kettle!
*by M***I on October 16, 2024*

The Haluite 1.8L Tea Kettle is phenomenal. I've got one in each car in case I get stuck in the snow. Depending on your point of view, I've had the opportunity or misfortune to use them once for that purpose, and they hold up well over a campfire or right on top of the engine. They are exceptionally lightweight kettles and perfectly fit a roll of toilet paper inside a ziplock baggie, so they don't waste space in your trunk and aren't so heavy that you don't want to bring them along with you. The only improvement for these kettles is the lid. As shipped, the lid rests on top of the hole in the middle of the kettle with an edge rolled down into the hole. When pouring the kettle out, the lid tends to fall out. If there was a tab or bump on the lip of the lid that inserts into the hole to provide a bit of extra friction to stop the lid from falling out, it would be perfect! I've worked around this on one of my kettles by taking the pliers on my multi-tool and "tearing" a tab out of the lip to provide that friction/stop. You can see the before and after in my photos. I will likely buy more of these as time passes and people see the emergency preparedness kits I keep in my car and ask me to build them one of their own.
