The Winegard DISH Playmaker Dual portable satellite antenna is specially designed for watching DISH HD programming while in the RV, camping, hunting, or make your tailgate party the ultimate tailgater! The Winegard seems to provide a somewhat clearer picture and has provided programming during times of intense rain beyond what the King provided. The Winegard did lose the signal eventually as the storm passed through. For now, I’m keeping it on the ground while considering the tripod.

A: The PL-8000 is the antenna only, you would need to purchase a receiver separately. DISH receivers models 411, vip211, vip211k, vip211z, and Wally are compatible.

**Q: Will the dish playmaker winegard pl8000 can pick up sign from the usvi st thomas 00801**
A: The PL-8000 system is only capable of receiving signal from DISH satellites 110, 119, and 129.

**Q: Can my home receiver works while we r at a rv park?**
A: As long as your home receiver is a DISH model 411, vip211, vip211k, vip211z, or Wally receiver yes it will work.

**Q: How many shows can be recorded at the same time?**
A: If you are purchasing Winegard PL 8000 with a receiver, please be informed that the receiver is a DVR ready device. That means you can buy an external hard drive and start recording the shows of your choice. 

However, we are unable to recommend exact capacity for a drive to choose as we do not know how large the recorded and stored files can be.  You may choose a drive by the most popular capacity available today, and we believe this can be a great starting point for you.

We purchased this to go in our rv. We received it a couple days after ordering it. Hooked it up and it took maybe 4 or 5 minutes to work. Very easy and great picture. Update on this review, you have to watch programs from the same satellite. If the primary connection is set on a satellite you can not watch programs from another satellite.

Predictably the King did survive the fall from our roof caused by sustained 25+ mph winds. So, the cost, which is competitive with the King is tuition (I failed to appreciate what could happen to an unsecured antenna on the roof - so I pass this along for others.). The King was under a year old, but prior to its demised had developed difficulty in changing channels when changing satellites. The Winegard seems to provide a somewhat clearer picture and has provided programming during times of intense rain beyond what the King provided. The Winegard did lose the signal eventually as the storm passed through. For now, I’m keeping it on the ground while considering the tripod.
