It was developed to combat the problems associated with standard tin/lead solder i.e. dissolving copper, this is especially important when soldering PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) as some of the track widths are as little as 0.4mm. This is vital when producing PCBs, but just as important when repairing them.The other benefits of this solder are it will also preserve your soldering iron tips as there is a precise amount of copper added to the solder, this also helps eliminates any absorption of copper when soldering. I do as a rule use a good quality solder paste when preparing leads for soldering, but I use as little as possible as there is nothing worse for corroding your soldering iron tip, a good practice is always use a damp sponge to wipe clean your tips as you are soldering and especially when you are finished. When I am repairing PCBs and replacing electronic components I simply use Ersin Multicore Savbit straight to the track or component to be soldered and I usually have my soldering iron set at the 195-220oC, but this would depend on the ambient temperature of the area that I was performing the repair.I always carry a size 5 tube of Ersin Multicore Savbit solder in my tool bag as I do a soldering iron and de-soldering tool for emergency repairs, if the repair is quite extensive and needs a reasonable amount of work I prefer to take it home if possible where I have a temperature controlled soldering station, if this is not possible I will bring the station to where the repair needs to done.This solder represents good value for money as there is no local outlet for this without going to the next town or city, as I have said this is the only brand that I have used for many years and I don't aim to change at this stage in the game.
