I used them for deadlifting for about a year before I upgraded to urethane bumpers, and they still look like new. None of the metal center inserts have come loose, although I'm not doing any rough overhead drops. The pros: because they are made of crumb rubber they are very soft. You can drop them on a lot of surfaces and move them around without damaging and scratching things. They also are relatively quit when you put them down or drop them. The cons: like all crumb rubber, the plates are way wider than cast iron plates or even urethane bumpers. This means that if you have bars with short sleeves you wont be able to fit a lot of weight on the bar. Compared to iron, it is also quite a bit more difficult to move the 45 lb plates around and get them on and off the bar, as they are about 4 inches wide and have no handle. This is always an issue with crumb rubber though and is not specific to this product. I eventually upgraded to urethane bumpers for the convenience and because I prefer to use bars with short sleeves. But these were a great starter set and I could have been happy with them for a long time. Overall, they are a great value if you are looking to get a lot of weight per dollar.
