Review: How did I do it before!? - This tool is an absolute game changer. I regularly move full sheets of 18mm birch ply and mrmdf on my own, and it was always achievable, but difficult. And I've had my fair share of broken edges because of it. But this tool...I'll be damned if it isn't amongst the most used tools in my workshop. It makes moving sheet goods quick and easy (I've even used it on plasterboard [thats sheetrock to you yankees]) Review: Great tool - I am a self employed furniture maker and move large sheets on my own all of the time and this tool is perfect for me. The bottom line is I could not do what I do without it. I lift 9mm to 25mm Plywood mainly with this although it is only supposed to go down to 10mm. I easily carry a 10ft x 4ft x 25mm Sheet of MDF on my own using this tool and because of the way it works you are carrying them at a height where you can go through doorways etc which is not possible on your own normally. The other thing is that it is built very well from very strong aluminium and it just feels like a quality piece of kit in your hand. There are 3 different sizes. One for thin materials and up to 12mm thick. Second from about 3mm to 35mm and largest suitable for lifting panel doors 45mm or so. Mine dose not lift thin materials like sheet tin or melamine. But they are available. It will tighten onto any surface and hold tight. Do not tump the lift up and just allow gravity to do its job. The heavier the material the tighter the grip. Over all I find a great tool. **Q: What is the maximum weight this can lift?** A: You will be able to lift whatever you are capable of lifting. HOWEVER - be aware that whatever is being carried might release from the jaws 1.-if you make sudden movements 2.- if it is not correctly balanced 3.- you bump into something. My experience with this product was not great but others seem to have found it good. For my own use I preferred the orange plastic 'plasterboard' sheet carrying tool. It supports the item being carried and your arm remains straight - suited me better- and will quite happily carry a whole variety of sheet material - I bought both - I only use one. I should also mention that I found that the jaws on the roughneck tended to slide off ply and OSB board. **Q: Can this be used for lifting solar panels.** A: Good afternoon, We manufacture various Gorilla Grippers models. ROU32610 lifts max 90kg/material thickness 10-28mm. Model ROU32620 max lift 90 kg, material thickness 35-50mm. If the solar panel you want to lift ranges within those measurements, these grippers will carry it. Another size is needed for thinner sheets. The way it works limits the way that the tool can be used. The illustrations on the tool demonstrate this accurately. Accordingly it is not a complete answer to all heavy board handling problems. However, what it does it does very well.
