A: I think so. I have a few thin pens and it is holding them securely. The loops have elasticity and will cling to the pen.

**Q: Can it hold pencils?**
A: It can hold pencils within 173mm

**Q: Will it lay flat when opened?**
A: It will not, the plastic that makes the structure of this case is too stiff to allow it to lay flat while open.

I really liked these cases for my fountain pens, I have very large pens usually and they fit in here well and the padding is enough to keep them safe, they are nice and compact too if I want to take them out with me. I always used to have leather cases but with the price of these at £9.99 they make a great substitute, the zip is good and strong too which helps and I shall be buying more of these (already have 2) soon.
