The folding/collapsing arms are, for me, a solution in search of a problem. I am talking about the way the trays that hold the bikes actually fold up vertically, not how the whole rack folds up against the tailgate. I never remove my rack, and I never need to fold it up for storage. The extra pivot points just make it a lot less rigid. I guess if you really needed to fold up a rack and put it in a closet or something that this would be a positive, but for me it is just a negative. The 1.25" to 2" adapter they include is solid enough but the entire rack has a lot of movement and play in it. It's not concerning, but it's not RIGID either. The actual attachment mechanisms and arms work great. The rack functions perfectly. It looks good. It's easy to use. I think this is a good purchase but just be aware of the lack of rigidity. If that concerns you, you may be better off with an alternative. The built in locks and security are a deterrent, not real security. I would not rely on them to keep my bikes secure, and I definitely would not rely on the flimsy hitch lock pin they include to keep the rack on my car.
