This pack of 3 includes 0.5mm 2.3mm and 3mm tips. The copper tip has been plated with iron and then coated with nickel to give a very long soldering life when compared with other tips. The tip is suitable for use with lead-free solders. Antex have now upgraded their tips to even longer life, and have changed the fixing method by replacing the external black spring collar with an internal metal shim. This shim gives better heat transfer and also makes the tip easier to change if a replacement is needed. Antex modern day CS18 and XS25 irons have a 4.5mm heating element shaft. There is a metal shim that sits between the element shaft and the inside of the bit to hold it on. These have brought my old Antex X25 iron (which must have served me well for around 40 years) back to life. There is more mass to the new tips than the old split-collar type so likely will be better for storing heat. I had to slightly modify my equally ancient Antex iron stand as without the split-collars the tips would just fall through the spare tip storage holes.
