They're well made, and comfortable to use, but I didn't find the results were as good as I'd hoped. My lashes didn't really look any different, I remember having some years ago that seemed much better. I've tried using both before and after applying mascara, definitely better before as otherwise I found they removed bits of mascara from my lashes. Also, get them as close to your upper eyelid as you can, and hold for about 30 seconds or so, pressing hard. Then apply mascara, and use the brush to neaten. Definitely give a good curl that way!
