They eye pieces steam up quickly at first so you have to leave a gap to allow some ventilation. I hope this is not a problem out at sea. The batteries were the wrong size and did not make touch with the contacts. Pushing them to one side made contact but the switch was faulty and the light flickered so had to return the first pair. No comment on the range finder as not a requirement for me. Pros Really good daytime vision ideal for sailing. Good at night too. Cons The Compass is not easy to see unless eyes positioned slightly low.
