You need to get inside the fireplace as far as you can to measure where the chimney narrows. I think I used a piece of string and then measured the string. There is a guide on the website to show which one to buy given your dimensions. I would go for the biggest size suggested. The Sheep will squash into the hole so it's not an issue if it's on the bigger side. I've had to remove my Sheep recently because I'm tiling the inside of the fireplace and the temperature drop in the room is noticeable so I can recommend it as a draught excluder **Q: My chimney is 8 inch square. Should I buy a 12 inch round or a 13 inch square sheep?** A: 12 inch or it may be difficult to shove it up the hole **Q: My flue is 9 inches x 9 inches. Will the 13 x 13 square be too big and, if so, how would I cut it down to size, i.e. would it could with scissors?** A: It needs to be bigger all around, than the hole by a couple of inches as in the description. It says you can cut it down,scissors should do it. I believe it should be ok for you. Make a paper template 2 inches bigger than your hole first to try for fit remembering that the excess will point up once pulled into place. Hope that helps.
