Odor?** A: I did not find any odor from mine. I even just smelled them to be sure. The look like the dryer balls. **Q: is the green one soft or are both balls hard?** A: The green is softer than the red and larger. I love it for back rubs. It is soft enough that it can be moved over shoulder blades and spine without pain. **Q: Soft vs Hard - does this describe the softness/hardness of the spikes, or does soft vs hard describe hollow vs solid?** A: It describes both the hardness/softness of spikes and how "squeezable" they are. The hard ball is not pliable at all--very hard.
