The ridges feel like they will cause a soreness and are off putting when you first wear it. It doesn't however cause any rubbing with my socks or heel of my shoes. The support is cold wash only and needs washing after every decent run. I am putting mine through a 40 degree wash so wish me luck!I bought these to complement my compression socks, memory foam insoles REALLY good quality running shoes and knee supports. I suffer from slight Achilles tendon pain. I also do specific warm ups and stretches. I am 12 stone and a 50 year old 5 ft 9 inch male who is heavy footed. I run 25-30 miles per week. Anything I use is hammered. In conjunction with all of these things I have successfully mitigated the pain in my right across. I am more aware of a slight tenderness in my left achilles now. I logically deduce that the ioncore therefore has to be doing its job.
