I collect rain water into a barrel, and I use a section of down-spout that I insert into a cut-out in the regular down spout to divert the rain into my barrel. When the barrel is full, I remove the divert section, which leaves a hole in my regular down-spout. I then use a piece of rubber material to cover the hole and I use the thumb screw clamps to hold it in place. It works great and the easily adjustable thumb clamps, make it quick & simple.
