For Krylon Satin Finish it's closer to matte, but does have a very very faint gloss to it. I use it to coat my stickers. **Q: does this fixative work on charcoal?** A: Why yes it does! The ink smudged before sealing the tiles and were smudge-free after using this product. The delivery time was excellent. The only problem is a side issue: I searched for CLEAR gesso, which I just heard existed (okay, I'm old and never thought to check such a thing!) and then, when I found it does exist, I searched for clear gesso spray. This item came up, but I KNOW it is not clear, it's a lovely smooth white. I have been trying to find a way to show Amazon a screen grab with comments to illustrate this possibly misleading problem, and this is the only place I have found where I can send an image!
