Review: Cool gwp - Cool GWP that I missed out on that I can get now at a reasonable price! Very cool set for lovers of the original Bionicle!
Review: An unexpected return - Bionicle is 22 years old this year... originally releasing in 2001 as a spinoff of Technic, the original run continued until the early 2010s where the story ended on a slightly underwhelming cliffhanger. While the series returned for a VERY brief reboot in the mid-to-late 2010s, it vanished quickly from store shelves...until now. The GWP Bionicle set returns to the franchise's origins with Tahu and Takua, and even features a teeny-tiny diorama of the Mata Nui and Makuta statues from the opening scene of the first film. While I'm saddened by the lack of actual Bionicle pieces (which I can only assume Lego no longer own the molds for), the brick built figure is a fun build, but the masks seem a little rubbish, being simply curved ramp pieces with the designs tampographed on. At least there's no stickers! Despite the flaws, it's a lovely little set, and a nice desk piece too.
