Review: Solid WiFi smart switches with good HomeKit and Home Assistant integration - I installed several of these switches (8 total so far) over the past two years as part of a larger smart-home setup running Home Assistant as the primary controller with HomeKit for family-friendly control (aka Wife Acceptance Factor WAF) and they’ve performed very well so far. They connect over WiFi without any stability issues, respond quickly to local commands, and integrate cleanly into both platforms. Once added to Home Assistant, exposing them to HomeKit was straightforward and they show up exactly as expected in Apple Home. From a hardware standpoint, the switches feel solid and the relay action is consistent with no missed presses or delays. WiFi signal strength seems good even in boxes that aren’t especially close to an access point, and I haven’t seen them drop offline since installation. They also continue to function normally as physical switches, which is important in a mixed household where not everyone uses apps or voice control. One tip that made setup much easier: I powered each switch up outside the wall box first, added it to Home Assistant, assigned the final name/location, and then mounted it. Doing this avoids guessing which device is which later, especially if you’re installing multiple switches at once. I also recommend reserving DHCP addresses for them so Home Assistant doesn’t have to rediscover them. Overall, these worked exactly the way I wanted for a Home Assistant + HomeKit environment. Not the cheapest option, but reliable, clean integration, and no cloud dependency once everything is configured. Definitely would - and likely will - buy again.
Review: Easy enough to install but read instruction to know what install choice works. - This is easy to install BUT read the instructions and follow the recommended choice of switch to install this. Otherwise you will never figure it out and it will not install. Yes you can be on your 5.4 ghz network as long as you install the switch on a 2.4 ghz network. Kasa only works on 2.4 ghz networks. To add to Homekit, first install the swithc via th e Kasa app. Then under the device's settings, see "add to HomeKit". You will be prompted to scan the barcode encolosed with the switch inside the box. Scan it and in 30 seconds, you are done. Name the switch and yes it can be the same name as used in the Kasa act. In fact, I see no reason to call a switch by two different names in two different apps. That is confusion. The install is easy. Line is power, and load is what the switch will turn on and off. This can be integrated into Alexa and Goggle Home. Load could be a light or a simple fan. This switch is not a dimmer which is what I wanted to turn my fan on and off while in bed. I did not want the dimming feature because my fan light and fan speed I control with a remote. However at night I may want to turn it onr or off from bed without having to get up. I have this switch in a few spots in my house front door light, heater room. really anwyere where you have a single pole light and you want Alexa to turn it off or on or if you want a scheule for the light to turn on and off while away traveling, or if you are in bed and you want to turn on the downstairs door lights. Remember, you cannot add this directly to Homekit even if you scan the barcode. the device can only be installed into Homekit by using the KASA app and the device' settings then scanning in the barcode.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will these work with the Smart Life app on the iPhone?**
A: I have this model and it works on SmartThings app https://amzn.to/3aT8pnj If you have Amazon Alexa, this will work on that too - actually better to use it with that.

**Q: Will it work in a 3-way setup?**
A: Yes, it will work with 3-way circuits, but you will only be able to control the circuits form the Kasa switch. Wherever you install the Kasa switch, hook the both of the two corresponding wires of the old 3-way switch together with one of the black Kasa wires (best done with Wago nuts - google it!), and the other black wire goes to the common terminal of the old switch. The other 3-way switch of the circuit is then useless, it switches from on to on. And, Kasa needs neutral (white wire) and ground (bare or green or green/yellow wire) -use Wagos there too!

**Q: Is it possible to turn off and on lights when not in the same wifi network? I mean when not at home? Thanks**
A: Yes, you can. I even tried to scare my wife by turning on and off the lights while she was at home and I was at work 😁 note: beware of consequence(s)

**Q: See were some of these wall switches require a common or neutral wire. Does this one need that or will it work with just the two normal switch wires?**
A: Yes, our smart light switches require a neutral wire for successful installation and functionality.

TP-Link Support

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quick and easy!
*by N***E on February 8, 2025*

I installed the Kasa Apple HomeKit Smart Light Switch KS200P3 at my shop, and it has been an excellent upgrade. The fast response time is impressive—whether I use Alexa or the Kasa app, the lights turn on and off almost instantly. Now, after locking up, I no longer have to walk all the way up front to shut the lights off—I can do it remotely from my Samsung Galaxy or with voice commands through my Sonos Alexa-enabled speakers. Also, a neat feature is the switches have a little glowing circle when they are off so you can easily see them in the dark. I can also program them via Alexa skill or the Kasa app to turn on and off at a certain time. As an IT professional, the app set up is really nice and well thought out. My mother could set it up once wired in, it's that simple. Pros: ✔ Fast and Reliable Response – No noticeable delay when controlling through the app or Alexa. ✔ Alexa Compatible – Works flawlessly with my Sonos Alexa-enabled speakers. ✔ No Hub Required – Connects directly to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. ✔ Well-Built and UL Certified – Feels solid, and I trust the safety rating. ✔ 3-Pack Value – Great price for three switches. FYI: ⚠ Stranded Wire Leads – Instead of screw terminals like traditional switches, these use pre-attached stranded wires that must be wire-nutted to your solid house wiring. This adds a bit of bulk in the electrical box, especially in tight spaces. ⚠ Neutral Wire Required – If you don’t have a neutral wire, these won’t work. Make sure to check your wiring before purchasing. Overall, these switches work flawlessly and are a great addition to my smart shop setup. The only minor downside is the wiring method, but most smart switches are like that and once installed, they function perfectly. If you’re looking for fast, responsive, and reliable smart switches, these are an excellent choice.
