## Description

All eight episodes from the first season of the sci-fi thriller based on the Marvel Comics character Legion. David Haller (Dan Stevens) was diagnosed as a young boy with schizophrenia and spent his life in psychiatric hospitals. While a patient at Clockworks Hospital, David has an encounter with Sydney Barrett (Rachel Keller), a young girl with mutant powers, who suggests to him that he might not actually be ill; he might be a mutant. As government agents interrogate him to find out who he really is, David battles with the reality that he could be the most powerful mutant who ever lived.

Review: not your average Marvel show - This is more than just a story being told. If you like Marvel for the big action stuff, you won't find much here. This is better but requires effort on the viewers side to really appreciate it. E.g. in the psychiatrists. Two people sitting opposite each other. Usually symmetrical but here the lamp shade - although the same type and colour is longer. One extra magazine on the doctors side. Rectangles and circles everywhere. Quality is in the details and this is quality. It should be in an art museum. It all adds to the story, the main character having two minds. The colours are fantastic too and used to great effect. Interview romm again almost symmetry but the two similar designed lights showing different colours. The usual today with action sequences is the lights go out, out come the narrow beam torches x files style and you don't get to see the scary bits. Cheap and nasty cop out for untalented directors. Here the female character is chased by the monster in a white room lit in white. Much better but more effort to do and keep the scariness. Other chaos parts lit in red. For these reasons I doubt if the show will be a success. High brow fantastic entertainment that plays with alternative realities - same scenes from different perspectives - and playing around with time really gets across schizophrenia but only if you can follow it. I worry that it will either be dumbed down or will do a Firefly and end prematurely. I hope not but don't see how this level of excellence can be retained without burnout or breakdown of the Director as this flies very close to schizophrenia and I hope no one gets burned. Get it while you can.
Review: The cover picture sums it up - So, Marvel are setting up a strong TV call sheet with Daredevil, Luke Cage etc. But the X Men end of the universe is lacking a TV presence. Up steps Legion. A lesser known mutant, with a famous father and scary psychic powers, oh and he has multiple personalities. If Dan Stevens charmed you with his other TV and movie appearances then this is a different set of skills. The main antagonist will be familiar to anyone who watched the 90s X Men cartoon series. If not then it's a whole new kettle of fish as we explore the more psychic end of the mutant powers spectrum. The plot is a slow build, you get the sense that something is not right from the get go. How wrong everything is isn't revealed until late into the season. I actually really loved this. When they get the chance to cut loose and just go crazy then they grab it and make something that works out of it. Go for the scenery, stay for the story. It's a really great watch, highly recommended.
