It has great front protection but i would say that maybe side and rear protection is not so good. I had more than 10 sparring sessions with my friends and we were not injured at all, maybe a little dizzy but that's what happens if you get hit by an uppercut in the face. Also it has removable bars in front but i would not suggest removing them (i learned the hard way) and it is very easy to put on, it will not take you more than 10 seconds. The only thing that restrains me from having the ultimate fun with this chest gear is that the bars impair your vision enough to miss some highmakers and uppercuts from a boxer. Other than that this head gear is awesome, i recommend. PS:The plastic edges of the bars are very sharp and may injure and cut your fingers if you are wearing half finger gloves.
