Review: Worked perfectly for gasket issue, great food safe lubricant - I bought this to solve an issue I was having with my water distiller. After each cycle, the gasket between the head unit and the boiling pot would stick and be very difficult to separate. My thought was that a little lubrication might solve the problem, but since I’m drinking the distilled water, I wanted something food safe. If I’m going through the trouble of distilling water, it doesn’t make much sense to introduce a non food safe product. I remembered using food grade silicone grease in the past for SCUBA diving O rings, so I looked for something similar that was NSF H-1 rated and safe for incidental food contact. This is what I ended up with. It worked exactly like I hoped. After applying a small amount to the gasket, the parts separate easily with no sticking. Since then, I’ve found a few other uses for it as well, things like blender seals, water filter components, and even refrigerator door seals. Pros: Food grade and safe for incidental contact Works well on gaskets and seals Water resistant and long lasting Useful for multiple household applications Cons: None in my experience Bottom line: If you need a food safe lubricant for seals or O rings, this works great. I would recommend it and will buy it again.

**Q: is this grease safe for plastic and fountain pens?**
A: Yes. No problems in my 40+ years experience.

**Q: Can this be used on threaded connections instead of plumbers tape to prevent leaks?**
A: This is not used to seal FPT (female pipe taper) and MPT (male pipe taper) plumbing pipe threads to prevent leaks.  This is a lubricant that is primarily used on neoprene, butyl, nitrile, EPDM, etceteras, o-rings and gaskets.  The lubricant assist in assembly and helps prevent bunching of the seal material as it is being tighten. It also aids in making a contact sealing surface for the o-ring and gasket.  Examples where it might be use:  sink/tub faucet valve stem, the o-ring on a PVC union or PVC union ball valve, etceteras. 

There are other pipe sealants that can be use to seal tapered threaded pipes like "Oatey White Pipe Joint Compound", "Highside Leak Lock Pipe Joint Sealant", "Permatex Thread Sealant with PTFE".

**Q: What is the percent of silicone in this product?**
A: There is no information provided on the product packaging.  All silicone greases are composed of silicone oil, PDMS, and a thickening agent, usually amorphous fumed silica, to make the oil into a grease. I’m surprised I never heard of silicone grease sooner coming from a long line of engineers, but glad I found this product. I learned I’m better at screwing on objects than unscrewing and gosh if I can unscrew my darn shower filter apart (seriously, there are full Reddit pages on this). I even tried a strap wrench, but nada — it refused to come undone. Happily, this seems to work wonders. No more leaking from my filter, cleans easily with a microfiber cloth, and best of all, I can open my shower filter with little to no elbow grease, haha.
