Of course, the description referred to the possibilities of using LightwaveRF products, but these were switches, not dimmers. I felt a little cheated, but surprised by the good build quality, decided to keep the switches for other devices around the living room.So I went ahead and purchased this set of RF dimmers.A bit of context - before that I used to dim my 300W PAR can with a very reliable but cheaply built dimmer which lasted almost 10 years! Until about about a year ago, when the dimmer literally started melting in front of me!Just like the switches I had purchased, these dimmers are very well built, certainly compared to the previous brand. I was happy that I could control all 5 devices (3 switches and 2 dimmers) with one remote (which came with the switches).The first dimmer installation was dead easy, but as I plugged in the second dimmer, it appeared to be completely dead. No LED light, no pairing, no response from the unit. Having read reviews online, it appeared this was a common problem and ordered a second set, preparing the first for a return to amazon. The second set arrived and both appeared to be dead on arrival. Plugged them into a wall, LEDs would not come on. I couldn't believe it. So I figured I must be doing something wrong. And I was.Turns out, unlike the switches which light up as soon as you plug them into the wall with no device attached, these dimmers appear completely dead unless you plug something into them. I felt so stupid. Same exterior design, but clearly very different internals between LightwaveRF dimmers and switches.So that was the first issue.Second issue is that unlike the switches, I was having a really difficult time with one of the dimmers located in a TV cabinet. The remote would almost never work for that one dimmer, or I had to be within a few centimeters for it to switch on or off. Yet I had a Lightwave RF switch right next to the dimmer, and that switch worked perfectly from anywhere in my living room.Turns out, the problem was my wireless phone which was 20cm away from both dimmer and switch; it was interfering with the dimmer but not the switch. So after moving the phone to the other end of the TV unit, my dimmer now works perfectly.Also, each device (switch and dimmer) can pair up to multiple buttons on the remote. This gave me a little grief when wanting to reconfigure the order of my remote's buttons. Unplugging the dimmers for 30seconds or so did not clear the memory. So one button on the remote would suddenly switch on multiple devices. Anyway, took me some time to figure this out, and found online how to properly clear a pairing.Four stars because of the small amount of grief, and maybe cost (you can get wifi controlled devices for almost the same price). However, I like physical buttons on a remote, way faster than fiddling with an app on a phone!These do seem like quality built products, and I'm so happy to have a remote again to control all of my lights from my sofa. Hopefully these will last 10 years! ### ⭐⭐ 2.0 out of 5 stars Be aware of a couple of things. *by M***T on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 November 2014* These do not work with LED's. Well, they work but you will be unable to actually power off the bulbs due to the nature of LEDS. They will go very dim and at that point these Lightwaves believe the low power is off - but the bulbs are still on. After research I found this out. Incandescent no problem - except they are now outlawed in the EU and incandescent so won't be made any more ! A VERY small amount of special LEDS work but at considerable cost and the manufacturer of Lightwave have a compatibility chart on their site. LEDS will dim and go bright, but forget powering them off, won't happen. This is also a problem for alternate Low Energy Bulbs.Lightwave has been taken over by another company - MEgaman or something like that. They have a new version of this RF dimmer sockets coming out that support LEDS that will power them off but don't hold your breath on a release date as people have been waiting years with very little update.Anyhow, now the poor part: My delivery arrived, the anti-tamper stickers over the torn, battered and grubby box had been replaced over the top of previous anti-tamper stickers that were cut in half but left on there. Nicely lines up ! But I'm no idiot. Peeling off the new ones revealed the old ones underneath. Clearly this was done to make out the product had never been open. It certainly had.Two days later a replacement arrives - guess what? Yep, another LightwaveRF set that was not new and this time had the Anti-tamper stickers put on the edge of the box WHERE THE BOX DOSEN'T EVEN OPEN THAT SIDE !To say I am shocked at this behavior is an understatement, especially considering this was sold and sent by Amazon themselves. It appears to have been done to dupe the buyer. There is no other explanation. In my opinion someone is matching working units / returned units to make a sellable item.On further research I have read about the many returns of this item to the manufacturer through failure and alarm bells ring.To end, Amazon these days do not provide invoices within the packages and for returns you are required to drop the item into a Collect+ Location for them to collect. I had paid for a Saturday delivery and suddenly because they sent me garbage I'm doing the legwork ? No thank you.I do not know what on earth has happened to this company but it will likely stop me from buying from now on. The last two buys of multiple items has been a headache.Additionally, on my penultimate delivery I had a venetian blind that was absolutely smashed to pieces and a package delivered to me that was for someone who lived 3 miles away. Amazon said they can do nothing about the package that was not for me - why? BECAUSE THERE WAS NO INVOICE IN THE BOX OF COURSE ! They were not remotely interested in the address I had on the package for the destined customer and said for me to send it back - to a Collect+ Location by my legwork and time !I now have no option than to take the returning LightwaveRF dimmers and a 4 foot venetian blind in a rucksack on my back to work through London traffic on my motorbike so Amazon can get the faulty one back. They are happy for me to pay extra and deliver my ordered goods on a Saturday but will they pick up their faulty goods from me on a Saturday? No they will not !I have found Amazon excellent in the past, something has gone belly up of late and I am not a happy customer.Less is more they say. ### ⭐⭐ 2.0 out of 5 stars Unable to get sockets to set dim levels *by D***7 on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 March 2019* A frustrating experience overall! The first pack I received one socket would dim, the other not. This was despite many emails to Lightwave's Tech Support. I returned the product to Amazon and requested a replacement. However neither of these could I get to dim my lights. Again Tech Support tried to help even sending me another remote control but they did not appear to understand the problem I was having. There is no video on the Lightwave website that covers this particular model which is a big omission.
