Might machine be defective?** A: I am a Nurse Practitioner & I have very specific instructions for my patients to take their blood pressure. As there can be many variables that can effect every reading. First you want to make sure the batteries are good (new) in the monitor. Then wrap the monitor around your arm, sit still with both feet flat on the floor, no movement or talking for 2-5 minutes then take the blood pressure. I have them try to stake it at the same time of the day for comparison. Slight movements, talking, lying down, standing, agitation, being upset, etc. can all effect blood pressure readings. . Very rarely will you get the exact blood pressure reading in secession, but they should be within 10-15 mm Hg for both systolic(top #) & diastolic(bottom #). I also have my patients bring their blood pressure monitor with then to their appointments to compare readings so I can make sure it is calibrated correctly & inspect it for any defects. I also have them keep a log & bring it to all appointments & document circumstances that could effect any abnormal (high or low) readings, such as increased stress, sleep deprivation, high sodium meals, any pain, etc. Hope this helps. **Q: Can you mute the audio?** A: yes, in sleep mode press SET for at least 3-5 seconds to enter "programming" mode, (the little person icon will be flashing) press SET again use toggle through the year, date time (24 hour clock) settings which are small numbers at the top right, use MEM to change the values and SET to confirm and advance. Next you'll see in large letters SP (turn to OFF) and PA (turn to OFF). I'm not sure what SP and PA are but by turning both off I was able to mute the Voice. (SP may be speaker, PA may be the spoken instructions at the start of taking your blood pressure). **Q: Do you hold up to your heart?** A: You can rest your arm on pillows or a table. Monitor should be at the same level as your heart but you do not need to hold it over your heart. **Q: How can I delete all the memory at the same time? The description is vague and does not work.** A: Hi, Thanks for your question. Here are the steps to erase all the provious memory: 1. With one hand press the “MEM” button for at least 3 seconds and keep holding it not to loose. 2. While press “SET” button with another hand. 3. Then the screen will display a sign “EEEE”, means you enter the delete mode. 4.
