I folded about 10 pants into the bigger one. Rolling takes up too much space and doesn't help with the compression. Just make sure to unzip the bags all the way for maximum space **Q: Is it a rip-stop fabric?** A: No. It feels like smooth nylon fabric. I stored denim in the largest bag & it held up well. I didn’t test to see if it was water proof. **Q: Is it waterproof (Can I put wet clothes inside)?** A: Hmmm, I haven’t tried that yet but will let you know when I do use it for that purpose.
