I've been through a lot of watering cans over the years. I've learned to buy plastic (metal is too heavy when full) and I've learned not to bother with anything less than 2 gallons unless I want to make multiple trips. My old 2-gallon plastic can, which seems to be ubiquitous at all the local garden shops, has a plastic handle that's hollow inside and shaped like an upside down 'U' so it cuts into your hand when it's full even if you're wearing gloves. It also sloshes water out as you carry it. So I was on a mission to find an alternative. This one ticks all the boxes for me. It has two rounded, solid-feeling handles - one at the top for toting it and a second one at the back you can grab to more easily tip the can as you water. Its other brilliant design is the opening for the water - it is slightly slanted toward the back between the two handles so it's easy to fill because it's not in the way of the handle. Best of all, the opening is slanted toward the back and slightly elevated so the water level in the can is further below it - no sloshing as you walk. I use this can to water my 2nd-floor window boxes from the inside. I fill it under the tub faucet, and then try not to splash water on the floor as I carry it to the windows to water. This can is a big improvement over the old one and it works great. I don't use the sprinkler attachment.
