However, not being in a position to afford a whole bottle of it at the moment, I looked around for a dupe and this seemed a good alternative. I haven't been disappointed. Personally, it's hard to smell much of a difference between the two, but the original is perhaps slightly stronger. However, Spirit of Shadow has longevity on me and I only topped it up once during my working day so I think it's a great alternative without the hefty price tag. I'm not sure how to describe the smell, it's a bit of several scents. It's floral and perhaps slightly sugary to begin with, but as it settles it becomes more floral/powdery with a hint of musk. I find it quite heavy and wouldn't wear it on a hot day, ( says the woman who sprays Jean Paul Gaultier's Scandal around quite liberally whatever the weather!), because I found it mildly sickly. I would, however, wear it quite happily at cooler times of the year.
