They were plenty sturdy and I was able to stack them several boxes high with no problem, but the cakes didn't quite fit into the bottom of the box. I had to push them down (cakes were cold at the time) the last half inch or so and even then the front of the lid rubbed on the front edge of some of the cakes. Compared to some other 6 inch takeout containers, the angle on the lid and the base is more extreme so the bottom isn't as wide. They named their animals, and decorated "pet carriers" to house them. We played a game. I was drowning. Even with feigned disorganization and stretching out discussion about pet care as long as humanly possible, there was no way I was going to make the scheduled activities last all week!Planned activities included making tags, collars, leashes, toys, and food/water bowls. Plus lots of discussion and at least one animal themed game. Plus funny cat and dog videos, if only they were not all systematically blocked by IT before the end of each day. What else could I possibly add that I could plan and acquire materials for within a day or two??DOG BEDS and LITTER BOXES!I gave each student a clam shell take out box, washable markers, and stickers. They decorated the containers while I cut some old t-shirts into strips. Then they stretched the t-shirt strips to make "yarn." A pile of the t-shirt yarn served as the "mattress" inside the clam shells. They made adorable dog beds!The litter boxes were similarly decorated with markers and stickers. I cut t-shirt strips that the kids stretched into "yarn."
