Review: UV/blue light tested and works! - One of the biggest problems with glasses like these is that you don't know how much light is actually getting blocked. Thankfully these glasses come with proper safety glass markings; 2-1.7 GA 1 FT K. In simple terms, these should let in about half of all visible light, provide great protection from UVB (filter >99.99%), some protection from UVA (filter >93%), and unknown amounts of protection from IR and UVC. I tested these glasses with a UV meter and a 395nm UV source (10W power, 1.3W radiant intensity.) The UV meter showed a reduction of >99%, or better than spec for that wavelength. Other tests for these glasses showed reductions over the whole blue light range of 99.8%, which is excellent. They fit closely to my face, are comfortable and adjustable, and do not let light in through the side like most other glasses do. In short, these are excellent glasses for both blue light and general safety. ------- For the curious, a technical explanation of that marking: 2-17 is a scale number in the DIN standard EN:170; if your glasses are marked 2-17 they must transmit max. 0.0003% of any wavelength from 210-313nm UV, 7% of any wavelength 313-365nm UV, and between 43.2% and 58.1% of any wavelength from 365nm to the "IR range", which is not numerically defined. Other markings on the glasses included: "Z87+" (ANSI impact protection rating) and the name of the manufacturer.

They offer great coverage for both the front and sides of the eyes. They are lightweight, very comfortable to wear, and expand to fit larger head sizes. They do a good job of blocking both UV and blue light. The glasses appear aesthetically pleasing, so I could wear them as sunglasses or in my shop. Well, at an appropriately priced $20, they are a great value.

A: These glasses have a UV-400 rating which means that they block the entire UV spectrum. They block wavelengths from 0 - 400 nm which includes UVA, UVB, and UVC. In addition they block visible blue light from 400 - 490 nm. So yes, they protect from UVC.

**Q: do they have a vent on top that helps prevent fogging?**
A: These glasses are not all encompassing, so vents would be superfluous. They cover the corner of your eyes, but they do not seal around them. They can still fog up when you are wearing a mask and breathing hard.

Glasses help with eyestrain when working on computer; clarity is good, and they're comfortable; they block a substantial amount of blue light. Orange tint might dissuade some from using them.
