Does the final product tolerate high temperatures?** A: I've seen cosmetic carbon fiber exhaust tips but never a repair. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent reasults but do you're homework first *by S***N on 7 November 2017* Kit had pretty much everything you need, BUT do your YouTube homework before you do anything. Other stuff I used was some wax paper (in lieu of mold releasing compound and some black electrical tape with LOTS of holes punched in it, about a 2-3 mm grid by two feet long, and an assortment of sand paper, 100 grit through 400 grit. Best to get one person to help as that carbon fiber stuff falls apart fast (it is supposed to - not a kit issue) and is very flimsy to work with once you get the resin on it. Very much floppier than fiberglass cloth or mat. Definitely easiest if you have three hands and one extra finger.NOTE: Be sure and put lots of rags or newspaper all under the repair area as the resin will drip when you compress it and it will mess up the finish or stick to whatever it falls on. Best to drip on three sheets of newspaper.I used it to fix a badly cracked seat stay (derailleur hanger broke and it got spun around in the spokes - very common) on a carbon fiber bike frame. After final sanding after it cured and clear coating, except that it now says AMIS instead of JAMIS (J sanded off) you're hard pressed to see the repair.I think that the repair is maybe stronger than the original tube as I triple wrapped it so the tubing at the point of the crack is at least 50% thicker than it originally was.A friend (who helped me as he had done this before - props to Hector!) has repaired his seat stay and three carbon fiber wheels. If it'll hold up on a wheel repair, it has to be strong.Oh yeah, you need to probably mix up a tiny bit of resin and the supplied mixing cup had excellent graduations but it mixed up WAY too much resin/hardener. I used a much smaller disposable cup and threw it away when I was done, along with the brush. I still have enough material to fix a bunch of bike frame tubes (literally like 15-20 more) so the kit is way over kill, but a lot cheaper than a $1500.00 frame. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sooooo easy to use *by G***N on 12 December 2017* Sooooo easy to use. The hole I pushed in the in my Madone 3.1 broke my heart, but after spending hours researching and learning what the experts do, I figured I'd breathe new life into this frame. I spent about 2 hours prepping the frame, sanding off the clear coat and paint and getting down to the bare carbon. I then painted the frame liberally with epoxy and applied two wraps of the carbon material, painting each segment with epoxy as I went. IT DRIPS A LOT. I used liberal amounts of epoxy to make sure the carbon cloth was saturated so there was considerably dripping as it dried. Two days later the repair is rock hard and looks amazing. A couple more days and I will sand it to be smooth and oil it until it is dark, then I'll attach a small squirrel to it (John Malkovich, SNL skit). Can't wait to get the Madone back up to speed! Thanks Gorilla, Amazon and Youtube! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very easy product to use if you have common sense *by T***E on 21 November 2018* This kit was awesome once I watched a you tube video on how to use it . There are no instructions at all. Just cut out the size of carbon fiber you want with sharp scissors very carefully cuz it falls apart real easy . Put some resin on the side you want facing down and put some resin on the item you are repairing about an inch wider than the patch then place your cut peice on the area to fix. Then apply more resin to the top of the patch and slowly work it around from the center out. Don’t try to make it as smooth as a cake or it will slide around, fall apart, and turn into a mess ! ( happened to me ) So don’t try to ice that cake ! Very minimal spackling . Expect to apply resin at least twice . First coat sand down flush then apply another . Give 8 hours cure time before sanding ! If your working with an object that is not parallel to the ground like a bicycle frame like I was , let the resin start to thicken up before you apply your outer coat (I waited about 15 minutes) or it will run down the tube. ( happened to me ) This was my very first time ever trying to fix my frame like this . It turned out beautiful as you can see. Two coats of clear automotive paint and she looks way cooler than before with the directional weave fiber I put on the uni directional frame .
