(I am also a potter) I would not want to use them on greenware since it takes a specific paint or stain to withstand firing temperatures. **Q: Would I be able to use this to paint the rim of a coffee mug where it meets with someone's lips?** A: Yes! Unless the person has any kind of allergy. It won't fade. This paint is excellent. I painted a couple of mugs and I use them everyday. Dishwasher is not a problem. Try them! **Q: Could I use this to paint a glass light shade? It appears that it isn't flammable** A: The Pebeo Porcelaine line is meant to be painted onto smooth, bake-able, glossy surfaces. Need to be careful though as if you shake the bottle before use it might create some very annoying bubbles that will ruin the entire work.
