It’s ideal for all sorts of DIY jobs — I’ve used it for lifting floorboards, removing skirting boards, and prying out deeply embedded nails, and it’s handled each task with ease. The three bevelled, tapered tips are perfectly shaped for getting under stubborn fixtures without causing too much damage to surrounding materials. The drop-forged, heat-treated steel construction gives it serious strength and durability — you can feel the quality as soon as you pick it up. It doesn’t bend or warp under pressure, and the powder-coated, polished tips help prevent rust, which is great for long-term use in damp conditions. At 457mm (18 inches), it offers a solid amount of leverage without being too bulky to control. The fact that it comes with a 25-year guarantee just shows how confident Roughneck are in the tool's longevity. Pros: Extremely strong and durable – built to last Ideal size for leverage without being unwieldy Effective nail remover and perfect for lifting or prying tasks Corrosion-resistant with powder-coated, polished tips Covered by a 25-year guarantee Cons: Slightly heavy for delicate or light DIY jobs No grip padding — gloves recommended for longer use Can mark soft wood if not used carefully Overall, this is a must-have tool for any DIYer or tradesperson — rugged, reliable, and versatile. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the thickness of the bar at each end. I'm looking to lift and repair decking boards that has a 5mm gap to get the bar into.**
A: For the first 50mm it's 4.5 mm then slowly thickens to 6 mm in middle of the bar

**Q: Which end do you use to remove skirting boads**
A: Use the slightly curved end of the tool ,to get between the floor joint.

**Q: Is it any good for spreading jam on my toast**
A: ......only if your name is jambob and if your jam is really rough.

**Q: Would this be sturdy enough to get in the gap and then prise apart and lift up concrete paving slabs (24 x 30 inch).**
A: I was introduced to the Roughneck in a video on roofing and I have used it successfully to lift fairly heavy roof tiles but these are nothing like a 24 x 30 inch slab! The video said you could bend the bar if you needed a shallower angle and that does not bode well for use with a heavy slab. For really heavy work, I use a similar shaped bar but with a hexagonal cross section which never bends!
