**Q: Can you confirm that this is mains operated with battery back up?**
A: The Firex KF30 is mains operated with a replaceable back up battery.  Note that there are two other models, the KF30LL is mains operated with a sealed in long life lithium battery and the KF30R is mains operated with a rechargeable battery.

**Q: I have a firex 4899 which needs replacing. is this the same case and wiring. ie. can i replace it myself or do i need an electrician?**
A: I have both smoke alarms and heat sensor ( Kitchen ) and they were exactly the same electrical connections. Easy to replace if you are an average- expert DIYer.
The company has a help line and are very good with advice. Hope this helps less than 5 minutes to change over. Push connectors.

**Q: How many pins does it have on the back?**
A: 3 pins. Two ( for live and neutral ) and one to interlink to your smoke alarms
