I totally disagree with the reviewer who said if you can't shift the light cover wearing rubber gloves then you won't shift it with this tool. I tried everything, rubber gloves, rubber sheet, bare hands, damp teatowel - I just couldn't shift the cover this time despite having managed okay on previous lamp changes. I was all set to order a new cover and smash the existing one with a hammer when I saw this tool and thought it was worth a try. When I took it out of the bag, I saw it had a trough on the back (it's not very visible on the photo) and realised I could put a screwdriver shank along it and use the screwdriver to get more leverage. I tried it and the tool slipped off the cover. I realised that I needed more upwards pressure. So, I put it on again and pushed upwards and prepared to heave to try and shift the glass, making sure I was going in the correct direction so as not to tighten the glass further. It was amazing. I didn't have to pull the tool very hard at all - the cover came off remarkably easily. I am so impressed.Now maybe your glass is stuck tighter and you will have to smash it. But I would strongly recommend trying this tool first because it worked like a charm for me. I have now put it away safely ready to use again.
