Review: Awesome sound quality in a small package. - Let me begin by saying out of several DAP players in the sub 4300 dollar range that I have tried, the sound quality of the AP 89 pro is the bes, The sound has a neutral feel to it with resonant base and great miss, with no apparent loss of crystal clear highs. The sound stage is wide and has some depth, which gives a feeling of presence. I have tested it with music files, mostly FLAC format up to 24bit, 192 KHZ, which it handles very well. The operation of the device is simple and straightforward if you stick to the basics, although navigating the Bluetooth, MSEB and HiBY connectivity can be more demanding. I was able tocoonect my iPad using Bluetooth and play tracks from TDAL and QOBUZ without any problem. The player easily handled a 512Gb micro SdD card filled with Hi-Res. music and did so impressively fast with little or no lag ( although it took a good few seconds to initially scan the card). It was also able to control the DAP from my phone using a downloaded Hiby app and the DAP’s Hiby connection. Battery life is a little less than I expected, but probably was due to some large music files and a lot of experimenting with the device, that said, it re-chrges pretty quickly using my iPhone fast charger. It’s portable, small enough for a pocket, and certainly has great sound. It also allows you to insert a 512 GB micro SD card, which seems to be double the capacity offered by otharDAPs in this price range, One small gripe is the lack of wi-fi but it’s not unusual in this price range.
