Review: Really fantastic quality from a reputable supplier. - Fantastic clarity, really clear to get maximum light transmittance and what would just top this and make this the best on desertcart would be a little kit to go with it or bought separately where you would make a frame like a picture frame only with no backing. I actually purchased this for a science experiment with my nephew where we could measure its temperature at its optimum focal length and it's brightness. I mean this thing put a magnifying glass to shame. We had the temperature up to 1980 C. Hot enough to melt brass. We actually melted a brass pad lock off my nephews bike as he had lossed the key to it. WORD OF WARNING: WERE EYE PROTECTION LIKE WELDING HELMET AS THE BRIGHTNESS IS SUPER INTENSE !!!

**Q: What material are they made of?**
A: it is made of rigid acrylic

**Q: What is this used for and how should you use it?**
A: it can be used for solar cooking.  There are many videos - just take care - the focal point will become very hot.

**Q: Can I use this as a solar blowtorch?**
A: Yes you can.  How ever the bigger the surface area the hotter the fresnel lens will be.  It also takes very very steady hands so making a frame for it at the optimum hight which will take some experimentation is the best way to make a solar torch.  Just make sure the frame in which the lens sits can swivel around and you’ll get there.  The glass lenses are the best though if you can find them as those never get cloudy like plastic lenses do over time and there more optically clear but the lenses out of old projector TVs are the best as those are huge if you can find them but they are plastic though but you can very easily melt steel, rock or any material with those things. **Q: What is the magnification? Can it be used for reading?**
A: I don't think it would be suitable for reading.  It has to be held away from the object and is quite large and heavy. Magnification is x 3.
