If you're fitting under a wall cupboard you're going to have to cut a hole in the bottom and top of the cupboard and duct the air through it out to the top of the cupboard back into the room. The key word in the title is 'extractor'. If it's an extractor, it's designed primarily to do just that, via a trunking to the outside. Without the external vent, it's just going to suck the steam in and blow it straight out again, whilst making a bit of a noise. You need to look for a recirculating cooker hood, not just an extractor. In addition to a grease filter, recirculators tend to have an activated charcoal filter in the vent hole which absorbs more of the smoke and odours but would not be especially good at absorbing steam. **Q: To use the external extraction do you need to buy a ducting kit?
