**Q: How does this work?**
A: ANY petroleum or alcohol based fluid/solvent will deposit what old time mechanics called "varnish" on surfaces during long periods of use and heating. I am not a chemist, but I handle dozens of different automotive and wood finishing products/solvents all the time. Lacquer thinner will spotlessly clean a carburetor....mineral spirits will not. The additives that you put in your gas are in the same family as lacquer thinner....they remove deposits from petrol based products.NOW.....imagine a mechanism that has hundreds of valves and orifices that are machined to extremely close tolerances.....EXTREMELY close tolerances.....that mechanism operates at very high temperatures, from a cold start. THAT is your "automatic" transmission. A modern automatic transmission is a mechanical wonder, with components that require calibration, maintenance, and operation equal to a satellite....they are a marvel.Even a couple ten thousandths of buildup will alter their operation and performance. This product is a blend of solvents that is strong enough to remove those deposits....WHILE being safe for all the O-rings and seals.

**Q: Can I use this with just a fluid change or do I have to do a complete flush?**
A: Remember....the torque converter has a LOT of fluid in it....so a normal "filter and fluid" change often only removes 30% of the fluid. I would want ALL of this out when I was done.Remember, a normal "filter and fluid" change leaves 70% of the fluid in the torque converter. I would want this all out. Check online and see if your converter has a drain plug. If not, look at the methods described to actually loosen a line to the cooler and drain/refill ALL of the fluid. My Grand Marquis had 13-14 quarts, and my GMC 1 ton truck had almost 19 quarts. A filter/fluid change on either one would only remove 4-5 quarts. I ran the motor and drained a line, as I added new fluid...when the color changed at the drain line, I knew ALL the fluid was out.

A: Honda recommends an ATF change (drain and refill only, no flushing) every 30K miles.

I purchased this to flush the transmission on my 2004 Honda Accord that need transmission fluid change. It was shifting rough so I decided to do the flush to get it cleaned out before pouring in new fluid. Now the transmission work very good and no more rough shift, had to put Lucas transmission fix with valvoline max life full synthetic transmission fluid.

My car with 150k miles was sitting for 2 years and after changing ATF it understandably developed problems due to solenoids and valve body being dirty. Gearbox Code came on and car would only shift in manual mode. I drove with the cleaner for 2 days until all shifting issues slowly went away. Currently shifting smooth with no codes, slipping or rough shifting. Product deserves 5 stars in my book.

Did a complete flush and replacement with synthetic fluid in 1999 Mercury Grand marquis, and in a 1995 GMC 3500 454 CID with the big towing tranny. Had 13 quarts in the Mercury and 17 in the GMC. Used this in both for an hour before changing.Shifting improved remarkably in both.....something worked.
