**Q: Shall I move up in point 5 increments or move straight up from trainer to 1?**
A: The trainer is rated to Trainer (100lbs resistance), and the No.1 (140lbsresistance) so you should be ok with this 40lb increase as it's not too large a jump.  The one up from trainer is 120lbs resistance so only 20lbs difference.
