I originally purchased it because I already have a corded fountain downstairs, but I wanted a cordless option for my kitchen. The motion-activated feature really appealed to me because the water doesn't run continuously—it only activates when it detects activity, which keeps the water fresh. The biggest challenge wasn't the fountain, it was my cat. She's very sensitive to anything new, and when I first set this up, she wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. The fountain is motion-activated, so when she cautiously approached it for the first time, the sensor detected her and the water suddenly started flowing. That was enough to send her backing away in a hurry! She looked at me as if she was saying, "Did you see that?!" From that moment on, she treated the fountain with extreme suspicion and wanted nothing to do with it. For more than a week, I left the fountain out alongside her regular water dish. She would go out of her way to avoid the fountain, taking a wide path around it just to reach her old bowl. At that point, I was convinced it wasn't going to work.
